A West Ham United fan is riding a chopper 300 miles to Newcastle with no satnav or phone.
Chris Ward, 58, is taking on the journey to his team’s Premier League game against Newcastle United this afternoon (August 15) in honour of Sir Bobby Moore, raising money for the legendary footballer’s Fund for Cancer Research.
Sir Bobby Moore was the captain of the England football team in 1966, the last time the country won the World Cup. He died of bowel cancer in 1993.
Chris is paying homage to the era during which Sir Bobby died by cycling as if it were the early 90s without smartphone or sat nav technology, reports Chronicle Live.
He is taking on the 300-mile journey using only printed maps and passersby for help if he gets lost and he will not be pre-booking accommodation.
While the West Ham Fan is an avid fundraiser, taking part in charity rides to Mount Everest and even North Korea, this journey is one close to his heart and one he describes as a “real adventure.”
