Two avid gamers who spent lockdown playing fantasy and adventure games fell in love after meeting in Runescape – and even had a virtual wedding surrounded by friends from all over the world.
Logistics manager Louise Nimmo, 25, and Fels Crawford, 22, who works in hospitality, first met in 2015 in the fantasy game when their avatars stumbled across each other – leading to real life romance.
And while their engagement party plans were scuppered by the pandemic, refusing to be defeated, the couple, of Glasgow, Scotland, decided to tie the knot – in a video game instead!
Louise said: “We couldn’t have our friends and family over for the engagement party we’d planned, so we decided to have a wedding ceremony on Animal Crossing instead.
“In a way it was perfect as we’d met in a video game too.”
Louise and Fels, who is non-binary and uses the pronouns they and them, first started chatting in RuneScape while their avatars were both fishing by a river.
