A Rottweiler in Yorkshire had to undergo a three-hour, life-saving operation after eating 30 PPE gloves.
Rambo was taken to the vets in Wakefield by his owner, Darren Coyne, after he threw up one of the gloves.
Only when the seven-year-old dog was referred for an endoscopy in Leeds did they discover 29 more inside his stomach, reports TeamDogs.
Surgeons then spent three hours removing the gloves, describing the incident as “something we’ve never seen or heard of before”.
The operation “saved his life”, they added.
Mr Coyne said he had been storing several boxes of PPE gloves in his car to help him adhere to Covid-19 regulations at work.
Rambo seemingly ate the gloves secretly while being driven to and from walks, Mr Coyne said.
The dog was discharged fewer than 12 hours after his endoscopy and has now fully recovered.
