Christmas just isn’t the same without the Towngate Theatre’s fantastic pantomime. We all missed out last year when the theatre in Basildon, Essex shut down and we were starved of our yearly dose of fun, frivolity and chaos consistently delivered to us by Simon Fielding and his talented, comedic crew.
It’s always a magical evening but this year’s production of Beauty and the Beast seemed bigger and better than ever. Anyone who has tickets to see this musical extravaganza is in for a treat and if you haven’t bought your tickets, I would highly recommend you do so before this sensational run is inevitably sold out.
We are back in Basildonia, of course, but this time we meet Belle (Madeleine Leslay), her father Monsieur De Belle (Mark Faith), Prince Adam/The Beast (Henry Shrine) and the wicked Villeneuve (Sophie Ladds) whose duplicity fuels the entire show and causes chaos for our most-beloved characters in this epic story of love, humility and patience.
