While many pets across the country will be tearing open presents and pulling down the Christmas tree, England’s loneliest dog will be spending his second festive period alone.
Zeke, who is nine years old, has spent 600 days in kennels after he was taken to the RSPCA’s Woodside Animal Centre in Leicester in April last year, but as no one wanted to adopt him, he was moved on to the charity’s centre in Bawtry, West Yorkshire. But his fortunes have not improved with little interest from potential owners and RSPCA staff believe he will be spending Christmas with them again, Teesside Live reports.
RSPCA team leader Daniel Cartwright said he could not believe Zeke had not found a new home as he described him as the “perfect dog”. He said: “He’s a sweet, older gentleman who thinks he’s a lap dog and he absolutely loves fuss and affection. He thoroughly enjoys going out on walks, playing with his toys and eating treats.”
