Argo Blockchain PLC, up 12% at 150.9 pence, 12-month range 3.41p-325p. The cryptocurrency miner signs crypto climate accord in partnership with DMG Blockchain Solutions to promote the decarbonisation of the cryptocurrency industry. “As more data continues to surface regarding Bitcoin and Bitcoin mining’s impact on the environment, it’s imperative that the industry takes real, tangible action,” says Argo Chief Executive Peter Wall. Move comes after Tesla hit the brakes on letting people pay for electric cars with bitcoin, saying the computing-intense mining process of creating new cryptocurrency spews climate-harming emissions. “We are concerned about rapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal, which has the worst emissions of any fuel,” Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said in a tweet.
