Samsung has just announced its all-new range of bendable smartphones and one of these devices has a very neat trick up its sleeve that finally solves an annoying issue with all Android smartphones. The new Galaxy Z Fold 3 is not only the first bendy device to get a full IPX 8 water resistance rating but it also features a screen that now hides the selfie camera.
Ever since smartphone manufacturers ditched the bezels and switched to an all-screen look there’s been an issue finding somewhere subtle to place the selfie snapper.
Since the introduction of bezel-free smartphones, we’ve seen manufacturers trying numerous concepts including notches, pop-up mechanisms, cameras that flip and designs that punch through the screen.
Samsung even launched a bunch of unique desktop patterns which attempted to disguise the in-screen camera and make it look much less obvious. Although front cameras have got smaller they remain pretty annoying especially when trying to watch an evening of Netflix as they often stand out like a giant spot on your face.
