Prince George ‘s godmother has shared how she gets funny presents for the future king in a tribute to Princess Diana.
Julia Samuel, who was friends with Diana, said the late princess started the tradition that the godparent should buy a gift for the children that was the most hilariously inconvenient and difficult to make.
She shared her memories of the eccentric tradition in an episode of the podcast How to Fail with Elizabeth Day.
“So I do to George what [Diana] did to us… which is give impossible toys which are really noisy, take a lot of making,” she said.
“I come in slightly tipped by the size of the present that William then has to spend days putting together and then put all the machinery together.
“It makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that. That makes me laugh and it makes George laugh.”
