It has to be said, these are fairly iterative upgrades after last year’s big 5G reboot. Apple has redesigned its camera housing so that the new lenses are diagonal, rather than vertical, and improved the systems behind its snappers so they can gather nearly 50pc more light, which should make for improved night mode shots. At the top of the phone there is a slight redesign, with a notch that is 20pc slimmer and a smaller top selfie camera.
Battery life could be the one big area of improvement. Apple says you ought to be able to get up to 2.5 hours more juice out of its regular iPhone 13 and 1.5 hours out of the iPhone 13 Mini, a nice improvement.
There has also been a tweak to prices for UK consumers, although this is largely driven by changes in the pound. These models are around £20 cheaper for their initial asking price than last year’s models. Pre-orders start on Friday and the phone will be released on September 24.
