The College Merthyr Tydfil has launched its new e-sports gaming suite.
The new dedicated facility will support the delivery of the college’s e-sports BTEC qualification alongside acting as a gaming and competition venue for the college’s British Esports Team.
It comes complete with 25 gaming stations and performance monitors, gaming chairs, a live streaming kit and a large touch screen TV.
Through studying on the Pearson BTEC e-sports, learners will have an opportunity to develop a range of transferable skills in coaching and events, business, finance, leadership, teamwork, social and communication skills, cyber, digital and more – ensuring that they are well equipped to progress into the many career opportunities within this growing industry.
The facility will also provide opportunities to support grassroots e-sports in the wider community, offering outreach and taster sessions and programmes with local schools, community groups and larger bodies, with the aim of creating a real e-sports culture and ethos at the college.
