Brendan Rodgers inists Celtic CAN bridge the Champions League quality gap and how they do it isn’t “rocket science.”
The Hoops take on Lazio in Rome knowing nothing less than a win will give them a chance of remaining in Europe beyond Christmas, be it in the Champions League or dropping down into the Europa League. Victory in the Eternal City, as well as Atletico beating Feyenoord, would set up a final day shootout with the Dutch champs at Parkhead for a place in the last 16.
The ten-man Celts were thumped 6-0 by Diego Simeone’s side last time out. They responded with a 6-0 thrashing of their own against Aberdeen before the international break. The jump in quality from Scottish Premiership to Europe’s elite is something the champions have struggled with, certainly in terms of results. Rodgers reckons it’s something they will master, but it takes experience over time and more quality injected into his squad.
