During lockdown 101-year-old Wendy from Windsor, in Berkshire, quickly became a technology whiz thanks to help from caregivers from local home care company Home Instead Windsor, Runnymede, and West Spelthorne.
At the beginning of lockdown, accomplished ballerina and actress Wendy, received an Amazon Alexa from her granddaughter Flora, with the aim of giving her a source of entertainment while she was shielding.
At 101 years old, Wendy has limited eye-sight and struggles with fiddly buttons on the gadgets around her house, including her TV remote, phone, and radio. She depended on her caregivers to help her with these devices, but when they weren’t there to help, using technology was frustrating.
Home Instead’s caregivers helped Wendy master the voice-activated device from her granddaughter and she is now able to play radio stations, listen to news updates, and contact her family without having to struggle with small buttons.
Using the device to listen to her favourite musician…
