MAGNIFICENT Heybridge Swifts smashed their second seven-goal win in a fortnight to delight of manager Steve Tilson, writes JON LONGMAN.
The Swifts boss told his players to cut out the errors that had caused a 5-0 defeat by AFC Sudbury in their previous home game and play to their strengths and not their weaknesses.
Subsequent results tell their own story as last Saturday’s 7-1 crushing of Isthmian Division One North’s bottom club Hullbridge Sports, following the 7-0 win at Romford, saw the Swifts play their best 45 minutes of the season, crowned with Darius Ghinea firing home one of the finest goals ever scored by a Swifts player.
Tilson said: “We made a lot of sloppy mistakes against Sudbury and got punished for them.
“There are no excuses for that 5-0 defeat. The result hurt the fans, the management and the players.
“I was pleased with the response with seven goals against Romford when we could have had nine and again against Hullbridge.”
