A woman is ‘distraught’ after her lost family pet was found by strangers, but she can’t have it back.
When Deborah Spencer and her partner moved house in February 2018, they didn’t know their beloved cat, Oscar, would be lost in the process.
Oscar, who had been taken in by Deborah when he was just 18-months-old in 2004, spent most of his life living happily in Doncaster before he went missing.

Deborah told YorkshireLive : “Basically, we moved house and he lived quite happily here with his long-term companion, Poppy, up until she sadly died.
“So, I adopted another elderly cat for company and then, one day in early February 2020, he went out one morning and never came home.”
Deborah, devastated at the loss of her beloved cat, said that she “did all the usual searches”, including leaflet drops, ringing round her local vets and other rescue centres in the area.
Deborah convinced herself Oscar, had died due to how long he had been missing and his old age.
