A daft bulldog needed life-saving surgery after enjoying a festive feast of baubles, tinsel and Christmas lights.
Rita the bulldog, from Liverpool, spent last Christmas at the vets at a cost of over £1,160 after eating decorations off the family Christmas tree. Clare Clayton, Rita’s owner, said: “I knew something was wrong with Rita, she was off her food and kept being sick, much quieter than usual and just not herself and after an x-ray, the team said there was something causing a blockage – and we realised she’d swallowed something. I couldn’t believe it!”
Clare took Rita to the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) in Kirkdale. PDSA offers veterinary care to sick or injured animals whose owners otherwise couldn’t afford treatment. In 2022 the charity saved over 141,000 pets.
