The friends and family of Great Britain’s Olympic medal winners have spoken of their pride at watching their loved ones storm to success in Tokyo.
Team GB currently have 15 medals at the summer Games, five golds, six silvers and four bronze medals.
But it was British swimming that had a particularly successful day five in Tokyo, with Tom Dean becoming the first British male swimmer in 113 years to win two golds at a single Olympics after he and his teammates triumphed in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
The 21-year-old, along with James Guy, 25, Matthew Richards, 18, and Duncan Scott, 24, clocked a time of six minutes and 58.58 seconds – just 0.03 seconds off a world record time. Welsh swimmer Calum Jarvis also won gold after swimming for Team GB in the heats.
They saw off the Russian Olympic Committee and Australia to secure Britain’s third gold in the pool during Tokyo 2020.
