Many people look to retirement as an opportunity to explore new places, take up new hobbies and simply relax. However, the burden of surging inflation may be a great concern for many pensioners.
According to the latest Great British Retirement Index from Flowercard, downsizing and relocating could be one way to ensure you save money while surrounding yourself with the most opportunities to enjoy once work is no longer a priority.
The experts behind the index analysed the average cost saved when downsizing to an array of towns and cities around the country, as well as population size and the availability of amenities.
Amenities include things such as religious and sacred sites, parks and cafes per 100,000 people, as well as the cost of memberships to clubs and fitness facilities.
The team also analysed recorded crime rates, combining the data to conclude a score out of 10.
