Major improvement works are about to start at one of Teesside’s busiest roundabouts.
Nunthorpe residents are worried about “gridlock” at peak times around Swans Corner, as the programme – which includes full road closures and temporary speed restrictions – gets under way.
The roundabout will be reshaped with dedicated left-turn lanes, “more room to manoeuvre” and better crossings for pedestrians.

Traffic orders are in place for the next 18 months permitting temporary single lane and full road closures on approach routes to the roundabout, while the work is carried out in phases.
Guisborough Road will be closed from Swans Corner to Gypsy Lane during the works, with access for Nunthorpe Academy and residents.
Various temporary 30mph limits will also be introduced.
