Selfless volunteers at a community centre in Scunthorpe are on a mission to help people struggling with their mental health by opening up the centre at night for a cuppa and a chat.
Beginning today (Thursday December 7), Grange Farm Hobbies Centre, in Wesley Road, will open from 10pm-2am for anyone in need of support. People who would like to use the centre as a warm space, a place to take a hot shower, or just somewhere to come for a chat are also welcome to attend.
It marks the start of a four-day trial of the scheme – which has been christened ‘Don’t Be Alone at Night’. The community centre will also be open during the same times this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Feedback will be taken from visitors, with a view to opening every night in the future.
