A market town in Calderdale is set for a cultural rejuvenation after it was awarded a government grant last week.
Sowerby Bridge is set to receive £90,000 from Historic England in order to promote festivals, cultural activities and art installations around the town.
The scheme will be delivered by Calderdale Council in partnership with cultural organisations ‘Sowerby Bridge Shines’ and ‘Sowerby Bridge Fire and Water’.

Cllr Jane Scullion, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Strategy, said: “Our local heritage and culture are hugely important to the story and distinctiveness of Calderdale, and will play a significant role in our recovery from the pandemic.
“We’re delighted to be working with Fire & Water to revitalise and welcome people back to Sowerby Bridge’s high street.
