A confidential phone line will be set up for women to report incidents of sexual harassment while staying in quarantine hotels after flying in to England from red list countries.
The move from the Department for Health and Social Care comes after more women have reported being harassed by male security guards following a swathe of allegations, the BBC reports.
The confidential line will be staffed by recently retired and trained police officers.
In July, the DHSC said it would give women self-isolating alone as part of the hotel quarantine scheme female guards after 16 women reported sexual harassment claims to the BBC, with some saying their claims had been ignored or disbelieved.
The complaints included a male guard miming sex in a lift to one woman quarantining, while another asked for a hug.
Two more women came forward with reports of harassment to the broadcaster. One said she was pestered by a male guard soon after arriving at the Hilton Garden Inn at Birmingham airport on 25 July, shortly after the new measures were announced.
