A Scots gran has been left in tears after her beloved dog’s ashes were accidentally recycled when a bungling parcel delivery driver put them in the bin.
Irene Ferrie was sadly forced to have her Springer Spaniel named Magners put to sleep on January 20 after he seriously injured his leg.
She decided to have her 12-year-old companion cremated so she could scatter him on their favourite walk near their Milton of Campsie home in East Dunbartonshire.
She paid Cambridge Pet Cremation £110 plus an additional £13.74 for postage and was told to expect the remains back within seven to 10 days.
When the gran-of-five hadn’t heard anything by late last week, she contacted the cremation company who in turn spoke to delivery firm DPD.
After initially getting the runaround, Irene, 75, was heartbroken to discover the parcel had been left inside her blue paper recycling bin on January 25 before it was emptied five days later.
