The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Instagram account, @sussexroyal, has seen around 700,000 users unfollow in the last year. Meghan and Harry’s royal Instagram has been inactive since March 30, 2020, shortly after it emerged the Duke and Duchess would be stepping down from duties.
As of writing, @sussexroyal has more than 10.1 million followers.
The drop in followers puts Prince William and Kate Middleton firmly ahead in popularity, with @dukeandduchessofcambridge being followed by around 13 million people.
The Cambridge royals’ last upload was on Friday, August 20.
It comes after Angela Levin, royal expert, said of Harry and Meghan: “They tell people to be compassionate yet neither are compassionate towards their own families…
“People are clearly deciding they don’t agree with their behaviour and are switching off.”
The Sun reported that of the Sussexes’ 10.1 million Instagram followers, just 66 percent are real people.
Around three million are likely bots that “mass follow” big-name accounts, according to data from analysts Hypeauditor.
