Weather maps are turning red as large parts of the UK are slated to swelter under a five-day heatwave.
Netweather forecasts that temperatures reaching 29C willl hit the southeast of England, including London and the surrounding counties on August 30.
Sizzling temperatures are said to creep over 30C the day after, and will maintain into the first few days of September.
Gardening expert Ishmael Kamran has issued a warning to all Brits ahead of the sunny spell, urging them to look after their plants properly or risk spending a fortune by needing to ‘replace’ your beloved greenery. “If you know there’s going to be extreme heat then in the morning before it gets too much, give your plants a good watering – and I mean a good one,” he said.
“The surface water will evaporate pretty quickly in a heatwave so you want to make sure the water gets deep into the ground and to the roots.” The gardening ace added that it is fine to water plants during the day, contrary to popular belief. “Some people say it does harm but it’s a complete myth,” he added.
