A vet wants to show pet owners in Newark the powers of acupuncture with her new mobile business.
Carole Parsons started PetTherapy Mobile Veterinary Acupuncture last year with the hope of helping animals suffering chronic pain.
She now wants to spread the word about how beneficial the treatment can be for pets with arthritis.
“Acupuncture is often one of the things I recommend alongside physiotherapy,” Carole said. “A lot of vet practices don’t offer it. If I’m a mobile service, I can treat pets anywhere in the area.
“I just want people to know that I’m here and acupuncture is something to consider.”
Acupuncture involves putting very fine sterile needles through the skin in various locations around the body.
It increases the release of natural morphine-like substances into the body, and stimulates blood supply so helps healing and acts as a pain reliever.
It can be used to help a range of ailments in pets.
