After what seemed a period of respite when many of us were making the most of getting out and about enjoying life again, 2020 is set to end on another downer, with Omicron cases on the rise and more restrictions in place.
The surge of the new Covid variant has disrupted that recent happy period of calm and prompted the return of facemask requirements in the likes of theatres and cinemas as well as Covid passports for big social events – not to mention those huge queues for boosters.
It’s all taken the shine off Christmas, although parties are – as yet – still allowed to go ahead.

While we saw the return of some festivals and outdoor events this year it’s not been business as usual and although our reopened cultural venues and theatres – where the panto season is now in full flow – helped us to feel almost back to normal, the current restrictions remind us we still have quite some way to go.
