A mum has begged people not to kiss babies after her child caught a strain of herpes.
The warning is particularity prevalent around the winter season, when people are more prone to cold sores.
The HSV-1, cold sore or herpes virus can all easily be passed onto babies and toddlers through contact such as a kiss.

In the worst case scenario they can prove fatal.
It is a chronic long-term condition, which can become active again.
Herpes is especially dangerous for babies under six months old and newborn babies because their immune systems are still developing.
The concerned parent shared her story on Instagram page Tiny Hearts, which is run by a paediatric first-aide expert and paramedic.
In the post she explains that she did not know how her baby contacted the virus.
“We haven’t been around anyone with an ‘active’ cold sore,” she said.
