Middlesbrough will travel to Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The tie was confirmed after the Red Devils beat Aston Villa on Monday night to seal their passage to the fourth round where the victor of that game knew they’d host Boro after Sunday’s cup draw.
Chris Wilder’s side made it through on Saturday after a Covid-hit squad beat Mansfield Town 3-2 at the One Call Stadium.
The Boro boss has spoken about his desire to go far in the competition as he looks to keep the positive momentum going on Teesside. And while Boro will go to Old Trafford as underdogs, if they can continue on their current winning run between now and then, they’ll head to the north west with a belief they can cause an upset.
No date is confirmed for the tie, as decisions on television picks are awaited. But the game will be played on the weekend of Friday, February 4- Monday, February 7. That also means that Boro’s league match with Fulham will have to be rescheduled having initially been slated to take place that weekend.
