After a disappointing month of weather, many will be looking for a nice September to make up for the recent rain.
Long-term forecasters have been predicting whether September will bring brighter weather.
In the shorter term, Bank Holiday Weekend looks set to produce a mixed bag, with highs of 19C and 20C on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Sunshine and cloud are expected on Saturday and Sunday, with mostly cloudy conditions on Monday.

But forecasters are predicting good weather for the whole of the country in the last week in August and into September, with “fine and settled weather across the UK”.
The forecast for the week to September 5 adds: “It looks increasingly likely that these settled conditions will persist through much of this period, with perhaps weak frontal systems bringing some light rain and showers at times.
“Winds are likely to be light to moderate for most, with breezier conditions towards the edge of the high pressure in the far south, where it may feel cooler.
