A man suspected of murdering a Burton woman whose body was found at a beauty spot has walked free after being cleared of suspicion.
The 53-year-old man, from Burton, had been arrested on suspicion of murdering Angela Winter, 56, pending further enquiries.
Her body was found near a playground at the Washlands in the early hours of July 2.
A pre-inquest review hearing heard on, December 22, police no longer believed Ms Winter’s death was murder.
The case has now been changed from a murder inquiry to a “coronial investigation”, meaning the coroner will determine the circumstances in which Ms Winter died. No medical cause of death has yet been given.
It was confirmed police, since reading a pathologist’s report, now believe there were suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy. The man they arrested has been released from his bail and is no longer a suspect.
