A man has been seriously injured after a tree fell on him at a Burton beauty spot.
A witness dialled 999 just before 1pm today, April 28, with the man trapped under the tree at Stapenhill Gardens, in Stapenhill Road.
Medics arrived to find fire crews already trying to get a “large branch” off the man.
Once it was removed, they gave him advanced trauma care, before he was airlifted to Royal Stoke Hospital by the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Police have confirmed they are now investigating how the tree fell.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill with two critical care paramedics on board attended the scene.
“Crews arrived to find fire colleagues working to release the man from beneath a large tree branch which had fallen onto him. Ambulance staff worked quickly to assess the man, who had sustained serious injuries in the incident and received advanced trauma care on scene.
“Once his condition was stabilised, the man was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care.”
