A new portrait exhibition at Preston Park Museum & Grounds recognises people’s kindness and selfless acts during the global pandemic.
Earlier in the year, the team at Preston Park, Yarm Road, Stockton, asked local people to nominate their ‘Lockdown Legend’ to be in with a chance of having their portrait created and displayed in the ‘Extraordinary People’ art exhibition.
Over 100 entries flooded in from people who wanted to nominate an inspirational person who deserved recognition for their efforts during the covid-19 pandemic.

30 members of the community, including Preston Park Museum volunteers and staff, made up the judging panel, along with a member of Bright Minds Big Futures and Jane Bizimana, exhibition co-curator and local artist.
The overall winner was Sahida Ditta, founder of the Amal Project Teesside, who provided food hampers to vulnerable Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) families so they didn’t go hungry.
