We are just under a month away from potentially being able to go on holiday abroad as the ‘road map’ out of lockdown continues to lift restrictions.
The date when foreign travel can resume from the UK has been earmarked for May 17 and pending any unfortunate changes in the falling cases of Covid-19 and the rate of vaccinations, this date is reportedly still on track.
The Government has also said it will introduce a ‘traffic light’ system for countries to rank them in order of safety from the virus.
The list is yet to be determined and further details are set to be released in early May.
According to the Department for Transport, the factors that will determine which category a country goes into will include the percentage of their population that have been vaccinated, the rate of infection, the prevalence of variants of concern and the country’s access to reliable scientific data and genomic sequencing.
