Tour operators and airlines are expecting their busiest periods since travel restrictions were eased with holidaymakers rushing to grab a late summer break.
Holiday firms such as TUI and Jet2 along with airlines easyJet and Ryanair are gearing up for a frantic dash to the sun up to and including the August Bank Holiday weekend and before schools return in many areas early in September.
However, many travellers are anxious that the scheduled travel review earmarked for August 25 will see some popular destinations hit with further restrictions likely to be implemented on August 29.
Biggest fears surround Spain with some experts claiming it could be moved from the amber list to the red category forcing thousands of UK holidaymakers into hotel quarantine on their return for 10 days at a cost of £2,250 per adult.
