The Lake District is one of the UK’s top holiday destinations and more than 15 million tourists travel there every year.
This means the beautiful destination can end up a little overcrowded with tourists and locals facing traffic jams and high prices.
Travel expert Simon Calder recently warned motorhome owners to travel to other areas of the UK for a staycation.
A local business owner has now advised tourists to travel to the national park without taking a car. Jerry Rebbeck, owner of holiday property company Wheelwrights, has said cars can be inconvenient for local residents.
Jerry said: “There are lots of ways to travel around the Lake District without a car. Cycling and hiking from place to place is one of the best ways to see the park while reducing congestion. There are plenty of places to hire bikes, if you don’t have your own.”
