KEIR AND THE PRESENT DANGER: Keir Starmer will make his pitch to be prime minister from the Labour conference podium today as the fallout from Friday’s “kamikwaze” budget continues to ripple through the British economy.
Sterling unchained: The pound was trading at $1.0813 as this email was sent out, having recovered some ground in Asian markets overnight.
Mr Rules returns: Starmer is gearing up to fight the next general election on the economy and is pitching Labour as the party of fiscal rules and responsibility, following a topsy-turvy Monday in the currency markets which saw the value of the pound slide to a record low. He will be on his feet…
