A mum-of-four has lifted the lid on what home education is really all about by photographing families as they learn together at home.
Having hated school herself, photographer Bekkie Graham wanted her children to develop a love of learning so she de-registered them from the school system and set them on a journey of learning at home.
Her oldest son Brodie, 19, is now studying art at university, her son Finnley, 16, is studying STEM with a view to studying bio-chemistry at Oxford University and her two younger children, Amelia, 14, and Oska, 11, are ‘unschooled’, meaning their learning is self-led by their interests, which is what she did with her older boys at that age too.

Unlike children being home-schooled during the pandemic, where they were set work by their teachers to do at home, Bekkie said the pandemic has proved particularly challenging for home educators as so many of their regular groups had to stop meeting.
