A giant red megaphone sculpture has appeared in Liverpool to encourage people to rediscover the city this summer.
A 12.5 metre tall giant, handmade copper megaphone can now be seen on the waterfront in front of the Three Graces.
Titled ‘Mersey Sounds’ the artwork was created by architect Daniel Smith and pays homage to sculptor Arthur Dooley’s original Speakers’ Podium that stood at the Pier Head until the 1990s. The piece is said to reflect Liverpool’s traditions as a democratic city where people use their voice to tell their own stories.

A soundscape of speeches from diverse groups across the city will be played out, along with excerpts of interviews with people who have a connection to the docks. Mersey Sounds will be on display until Monday, September 6.
