Parents have backed opposition leaders for an end to compulsory facemasks in schools.
Scottish Conservative education spokesman Oliver Mundell said pupils deserved a return to normality after 18 months of disruption to their education due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Now parent campaign group UFTScotland, which has more than 14,000 members and has always opposed masks in classrooms, says the time has come for an end to the practice.
Under current rules, facemasks are mandatory for Scots youngsters at secondary schools at all times when indoors – meaning they spend more time wearing them than many adults.
The Scottish Government’s advisory group on Covid restrictions in schools has also called for an end to the practice “when possible”.
