A woman from Doncaster has been left “distraught” after her elderly cat was accidentally rehomed nearly 120 miles away in Bedford.
In Feburary 2018, Deborah Spencer and her partner moved “literally two villages away”, from one area of Doncaster to another.
At the time, the couple had no way of knowing that their move would lead to the loss of their beloved cat, Oscar, whom Deborah, 54, had adopted from the RSPCA in 2004.

Oscar, who had been taken in by Deborah when he was just 18 months old, spent most of his life living happily in Doncaster – but is now living 118 miles away in Bedford, after a “cruel twist of fate” that saw the nearly 20-year-old cat be mistakenly rehomed.
Deborah told YorkshireLive : “Basically, we moved house and he lived quite happily here with his longterm companion, Poppy, up until she sadly died.
