A terrified dog owner found her pet with its chest ripped open on a trip to the park.
Tia Bell from Woodchurch, Wirral, had taken her daughter Ivy, one, and her staffy-cross Wally for a picnic in Arrowe Country Park off Arrowe Brook Road.
The 27-year-old said she was terrified after hearing Wally yelp in pain and emerge from the water with skin hanging off his chest.

She said: “I had been throwing his ball to him and he was splashing about in the water of one of the pond/lake parts.
“I heard him yelp and thought he had twisted his ankle but when I saw him there was skin just hanging from his body, it was terrifying.
“There are about five poles sticking out of the water, four have been levelled off, but one of them is not a clean cut and has just gone right through his skin.
“There are other poles like this around the walk ways and I cut my foot on one when I was pregnant with Ivy.
