David Beckham has taken to social media to share his thoughts on an “unforgettable” year, focusing on family moments rather than missing out on a knighthood in the recent honours list.
Despite being overlooked again, with former England manager Gareth Southgate topping the end-of-year honours list, Beckham chose not to dwell on the past. The snub comes years after leaked emails from 2017 revealed Beckham’s frustration with the honours committee, whom he referred to as “unappreciative c***s”.
Now 49, the ex-England legend, who holds an OBE, has previously suggested that some of the leaked emails were tampered with. However, the controversy seems to have cast a long shadow over his prospects of earning the title of Sir.
