Over-25s can book Covid vaccine, Matt Hancock announces
The government is to provide extra support to areas that have seen a rise in cases of the Delta variant of coronavirus.
The measures, covering Greater Manchester and Lancaster, will include extra testing, as well as supervised in-school testing, and military support. Ministers have also extended their ‘minimise travel’ advice to the areas.
Meanwhile, people aged 25 to 29 hoping to book their coronavirus vaccines are being turned away by the NHS website.
Six months on from the day the world’s first Covid-19 vaccine was administered outside of a clinical trial, under-30s are supposed to be able to arrange their jabs but the NHS say that the website has been “experiencing technical difficulties”.
A minister has, moreover, said that Brits should “holiday at home” this summer rather than travel abroad.
Environment Secretary George Eustice told Sky News that because of the “risks” associated with foreign travel, holidaymakers should instead visit the “great places” the UK has to offer.
