Minister tells England fans not to travel to Italy for Euro quarter-finals
Ministers are reportedly set to scrap plans for vaccine passports at large events after lockdown is lifted.
The use of mandatory Covid certification – to give people access to events and venues if they have proof of vaccination, a recent test, or antibodies – has already been shelved for pubs and restaurants after a backlash.
And the government is now expected to also abandon the idea of introducing them for mass events, according to the Daily Mail, although organisers of events such as the Premier League will be allowed to run their own schemes.
It comes as a World Health Organisation (WHO) special envoy on Covid-19 warned against ditching all remaining protections against the virus on a “particular date”.
