Chancellor Rishi Sunak said Sajid Javid was aware of the “frustrations” with the NHS app as travellers wait for the quarantine update.
Ministers have been warned millions of people could be “pinged” by the Track and Trace app as infections are expected to climb to 100,000 cases a day in the summer.
Mr Sunak said: “I’ve spoken to the Health Secretary about this and he’s aware of the frustration that people have around this.”
It comes as Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is, on Thursday afternoon, expected to announced that people who have had both doses of the Covid vaccine will be able to enjoy quarantine-free travel to amber list countries.
