Employees working at a social care and education company have been informed today on December 24 that they could be made redundant by next week.
Horton Establishments Limited administrators sent a letter to staff, which they received on Christmas Eve, stating that the company had gone into administration and that if nobody bought it over, staff would be made redundant on December 31.
Hull Live reports that the Hull-based company is currently up for sale and is seeking offers for just seven days.
Horton Establishments Ltd is responsible for a group of special community-based schools, children’s homes and adult homes.
Workers claim that they knew nothing about the company’s bleak financial situation and that the word of their redundancy came “out of the blue.”
It is also understood that employees were paid this month’s wages on December 24.
The letter to staff reads: “If it is not possible to secure a sale at least in principle by 31 December 2021, it is likely that the company will have to cease to trade immediately…
