A Burton beauty spot where a woman’s body was found is often used as a “safe space” by homeless people, it has been claimed.
Dozens of people go walking around the area, which runs from the town centre through the picturesque area around the River Trent, every day.
A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was found there on Friday.

And one man in the town centre today, Brian Pawley, who lives in Branston, said the area was often used by Burton’s homeless.
He said: “I have worked with a lot of homeless people in the town and I am aware that this area is often used by homeless people as a safe space.
“It’s never nice when you hear someone has passed away, but when there is mystery attached to it you do feel for the family and friends who have been affected by this.
“If the lady who passed away was homeless, I might have known her and it’s very unfortunate she has lost her life.”
