Former US President Bill Clinton has sent a letter of support to the residents of two streets on the Ormeau Road, after their idea to renovate their back alley into a “garden paradise” drew international attention.
Last year, Belfast Live visited the residents of Ardmore Avenue and Rossmore Avenue, who had begun putting plants and benches out into the back alleyway which connected their streets.
This eventually led to most of the residents on the street coming together as a community and turning it into a unique garden alley.
The move was widely praised both locally and nationally, with politicians such as Claire Hanna and Naomi Long voicing their support for the initiative, while a visit from Irish garden designer Diarmuid Gavin saw the idea reach a global audience.
