New artwork showcasing an exhibition at BALTIC has gone on display at Gateshead transport interchange.
And it is just the ticket for the many bus and Metro passengers who use the facility every day as lockdown eases, brightening up walls that were previously blank with thought provoking pieces of modern art.
Five new artworks from BALTIC’s Open Submission exhibit, which opened on May 19, are on show inside the bus concourse at Gateshead interchange.
It follows the display of 13 different pieces of art from Open Submission which went up at stations on the Tyne and Wear Metro network in March. These include Bede, Cullercoats, Hebburn, Wallsend and West Jesmond.
Customer Services Director at Nexus, Huw Lewis, said: “It’s great that we have been able to get more art works from BALTIC Open Submission out on to the local public transport network. Gateshead Interchange is a great space to display art.
“As more passengers start to return to bus and Metro services so more and more will be able to see these art works…
