A mum-of-two who binge drank three bottles of wine a night has spoken of how she turned her life around and became a fitness fanatic.
52-year-old Rhian Jones said that her decades of boozing were the result of a long struggle with her mental health – one which, out of sheer desperation, saw her try to take her own life on a number of occasions.
But now the former estate agent from Morriston in Swansea has spoken out about her long-kept secret battle in the hope it might help others.

“I’ve suffered with depression and anxiety pretty much all my adult life and had been heavy drinker for about 20 years,” said Rhian.
“It started out as just a bottle of wine to myself of an evening and got worse from there.
“I’d also start downing rum and gin and would go out to clubs and pubs a lot. Most of the time I wouldn’t remember a thing from the night before.”
Adding that she’d probably spent thousands on alcohol over the years – “I’d probably be a rich woman now had I not” – she still somehow managed to hide her problem from both her family and friends.
